Osteoporosis Risk Assessment for Women
Osteoporosis is a disease that slowly weakens bones until they break easily. More than 10 million Americans are affected by osteoporosis, with women four times more likely to develop osteoporosis than men.

Trinity Hospital of Augusta is committed to providing patients with preventative and diagnostic Bone Density Scans through the use of our DEXA (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) densitometer.  Bone density test are excellent for patients with a fracture risk commonly caused by low bone mass – a disease called Osteoporosis.

Increased risk factors for Osteoporosis:

  • A family history of osteoporosis
  • A small thin frame
  • Certain medical conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis
  • Taking certain medicines
  • Lifestyle factors such as alcohol use, smoking, drinking cola, and little exercise.
