Bone Density Scans

Trinity Hospital of Augusta is committed to providing patients with preventative and diagnostic Bone Density Scans through the use of our DEXA (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) densitometer.  Bone density test are excellent for patients with a fracture risk commonly caused by low bone mass – a disease called Osteoporosis.

Increased risk factors for Osteoporosis:

• A family history of osteoporosis
• A small thin frame
• Certain medical conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis
• Taking certain medicines
• Lifestyle factors such as alcohol use, smoking, drinking cola, and little exercise.
